Arizona and Oregon share Pac-12 regular season title

The Ducks will be the top seed in Vegas though

When the Arizona Wildcats took out the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe on Saturday, they knew that they had clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 regular season title.

Well, the Oregon Ducks also dispatched their in-state rival, splitting the 18-game crown with the Wildcats with identical 16-2 records.

This is the first time ever that Oregon has won back-to-back conference titles in men’s basketball.

The Pac-12 does not have tiebreakers for the regular season championship, so even though Oregon obliterated Arizona in their only meeting in 2016-17, the two will both claim a conference title.

That head-to-head victory will give Oregon the one-seed in the Pac-12 Tournament this upcoming week. Arizona will be the 2-seed, meaning that it will likely have to beat both UCLA and Oregon on Friday and Saturday to win the tournament title.

Despite finishing with identical conference records, UO is held in higher regards by most national analysts due largely to that blowout win in Eugene. The Pac-12 Tournament could end up being for a spot in the West Region as opposed to being shipped off away from San Jose for the second weekend of NCAA Tournament play.

U of A will begin postseason play Thursday night at 6 PM PT at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Oregon gets the early game, tipping off at noon.
