Edgar Burrola to Arizona: 3-star offensive lineman signs with Wildcats, likely blue shirt candidate

A new, large body coming to Arizona’s offensive front

A successful offense begins with the big guys up front. The Arizona Wildcats are in a fortunate position where they are returning four of the five starting offensive linemen from 2016 with Layth Friekh, Nathan Eldridge, Gerhard de Beer, and Jacob Alsadek. However, it’s always important to add depth and that’s exactly what three-star recruit Edgar Burrola will do.

Burrola is a 6-foot-6, 295 pound offensive tackle prospect from Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the starting right guard on the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Class 3A State Championship team. His versatility as a guard or tackle coupled with his tremendous size makes him a valuable asset to the program.

The 2017 recruiting class is unusually light on offensive line prospects as Burrola is the only scholarship player at the respective position group. This presents a potential opportunity for his future playing time as a Wildcat.

He will be classified as a blueshirt for the class which means he earned a scholarship without being formally recruited. It is highly likely that he will also redshirt this season. It would serve as a chance for him to learn from several experienced offensive linemen and find comfort with the speed of the game at this level.
