Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona becomes 2-seed in bracketology projections
Could they get to the one line eventually?
After an impressive win over the UCLA Bruins, the Arizona Wildcats now find themselves at the center of the national college basketball conversation. Not surprisingly, they made a big jump up the rankings, but also hopped on up to the two-line in the bracketologies of both Sporting News and ESPN. Maybe it’s just me, but Arizona/Indiana in round two sounds like a good time
- The complete performance on Saturday with Allonzo Trier now also has people thinking this team is primed for a title run. As Jon Rothstein says, there is a new dawn in Tucson now that the Wildcats have Trier back. It also leads to us predicting no worse than 16-2 in conference now
- Speaking of Trier, he could be starting soon. We’ll have a lot more on him and the whole starting lineup thing in the coming days
- Arizona moved up to fifth in these rankings while UCLA fell to 7th. 5-6-7 from the same conference? Ok
- Lauri Markkanen was named Pac-12 Player of the Week. Somehow, he’s the first UA player to win it this year
- Dillon Brooks did not play for Oregon on Saturday, and his timetable to return is unclear. Arizona goes to Eugene next Saturday
- Gabe York was named 2nd-team All-Showcase at a D-League event this past weekend
- Arizona offered Bol Bol this weekend. He is the son of Manute Bol, and is the 14th-ranked player of the 2018 class

- ASU’s offensive coordinator left for Auburn. Also, Oregon’s getting rid of their new co-offensive coordinator thanks to a DUI
- Arizona commit Tony Wallace says he has shut down his recruitment. On the flip side, several Sun Belt schools are making a run at Troy Young
- It’s never a bad time to start talking about Arizona’s quarterback situation
- This youngster appears to be an ASU fan
