Arizona basketball: Kobi Simmons sprains ankle, says it’s “fine”

It’s great news for a team that’s already down to eight scholarship players

With just under two and a half minutes left in the Arizona Wildcats’ 65-63 win over Michigan State, UA guard Kobi Simmons rolled his right ankle and had to leave the game.

Simmons, who dropped a game-high 18 points, would return though, and afterward he said that his anke is “fine”, according to Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star.

Kadeem Allen, who hit the game-winner, also hurt his left knee in the game, but evidently it didn’t slow him down too much.

With Arizona down to eight scholarship players with the injuries to Talbott Denny and Ray Smith, and the absence of Allonzo Trier, it’s paramount that the Wildcats stay healthy this season, and it appears they’ve dodged a bullet in this case.

Still, the statuses of Simmons and Allen are worth monitoring as Arizona prepares for its next game on Tuesday when it takes on CSU Bakersfield.
