Arizona football recruiting: Joshua Brown leaps over goal line, Braxton Burmeister near perfect
Another week of solid performances for Arizona commits
It seemed to be a slow week for high school football news when it comes to Arizona Wildcats recruits. Some teams are hitting their bye week and others just don’t get nearly as much coverage as the bigger schools Arizona has been recruiting.
There’s not a whole lot out there for Wildcat commits, but here’s the best I could do when searching for all of the stats.
Joshua Brown leaps over goal line
Joshua Brown pulled a LaVar Arrington and leapt over the goal line for a fourth-down stand. He’s an ultra-athletic linebacker with great size already, checking in at around 6-foot-2, 240 pounds.

Warren Jackson is long
It’s really a shame we haven’t seen a whole lot of Shawn Poindexter this season, with just two years of eligibility at Arizona. But we have 6-foot-5 Warren Jackson to look forward to as a true freshman next fall. No stats were available for Jackson.

Braxton Burmeister continues to shred
In one of the most efficient and effective stat lines I’ve ever seen, Burmeister finished the night 12-of-13 passing, 311 yards and four touchdowns. He added four rushes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. He is the truth.
BREAKING: With 8:10 left in 2Q, @Braxton1B throws an incomplete pass. Now 10/11 for 240yds & 3 TDs.#kusippr @cdjunglesquad @torreyfootball

Bryce Gilbert exploiting defenses
For a while, teams were targeting Bryce Gilbert in order to contain him. Higley has a dynamic backfield and a set of stud receivers, which has left the offense wide open. In a 72-20 rout of Apache Junction, Gilbert finished with four receptions, 52 yards and two touchdowns. He also had an 18-yard kick return.
Brian Casteel helps lead comeback
Brian Casteel is a frequent member of these weekly lists; 1) because his stats are usually updated pretty quickly and 2) because he’s always making plays. He helped finish off a comeback with two scores and an interception in the fourth quarter.
@SGVNSports brian Casteel...scores two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and intercepted a pass in South hills final drive @SGVNSCORES

Kylan Wilborn running the rock
Wilborn made the move over to running back this season for Notre Dame and he’s had great success there. Arizona will be bringing him as a linebacker/defensive end hybrid. You have to figure it’s a similar role to Jalen Cochran of the 2016 class.
notre dame's kylan wilborn with a 16-yard touchdown and notre dame and alemany are tied at 21-21 with under 9 to go third qtr.
