Arizona football recruiting: 2018 Cienega quarterback Jamarye Joiner verbally commits to Wildcats

An electrifying athlete becomes the first 2018 commit

The Arizona Wildcats are closing up their 2017 recruiting class, sitting with 26 commitments thus far. It’s allowed the coaching staff to focus more on the future recruiting class a little more, leading us to the commitment of 2018 quarterback Jamarye Joiner. He is now the first commitment of the 2018 class.

Joiner is an electrifying athlete out of Cienega High School (Vail, AZ), leading the Bobcats to a perfect 5-0 record to start the season. He currently checks in at 6-foot-even, 185 pounds.

Thus far, he’s accumlated 582 passing yards and four passing touchdowns for the Bobcats. However, he’s been doing most of his work on the ground, racking up 358 yards on 33 carries for seven touchdowns. Expect him to be ranked by all recruiting services by the time his junior season ends.

I got a chance to speak with Joiner about his recruitment process just a few weeks ago when received his Arizona offer.

Originally from Salpointe, he was dismissed from the team after a superb freshman campaign, being named a MaxPreps All-American wide receiver. This led him to Cienega, where he has remained in contact with Rod Smith and the rest of the coaching staff.
