Arizona basketball: Kaleb Tarczewski agrees to deal with Washington Wizards

Zeus will be heading back east for the time being.

After four years with the Arizona Wildcats, center Kaleb Tarczewski will look to continue his basketball career with the Washington Wizards according to David Aldridge.

In a season riddled with injuries, Tarczewski averaged 9.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game as a senior with the Wildcats. The scoring was right in line with the couple of years before that, but his rebounding took a huge jump up, having averaged no better than 6.3 boards a game in his first three years of college ball.

There's an overwhelming feeling that Zeus did not live up to expectations in his college career. He came in as a five-star player, ranked 8th overall in the 2012 recruiting class. With accolades like that, you might expect a player to only last one or two years in college before going pro.

His game never fully developed on the offensive end, as his hands hindered him, dropping passes to him on a kind of regular basis. Even he didn't expect to be at Arizona for four years, but he seems happy that it played out that way.

What will catch the eye of scouts at the Summer League will be Zeus' size and defense. There's no arguing that when he's healthy, he is a very important interior presence on defense, with his length and size giving tons of players fits when they try to make their way to the bucket.

Assuming he is fully healthy, I would expect Tarczewski to impress at the NBA Summer League, and play his way onto at least a D-League team. The athletic ability he possesses with that size is nothing to sniff at.
