Arizona basketball: Wildcats add Lipscomb graduate transfer Talbott Denny

A Tucson kid is coming home

Talbott Denny played his high school basketball at Salpointe High School, which happens to be less than a mile away from the main campus of the University of Arizona.

After four years at Lipscomb, Denny will finish his college career where it all started, as he announced he is signing with the Arizona Wildcats as a graduate transfer.

Denny missed his senior season at Lipscomb due to a shoulder labrum tear he suffered in fall practice. The last season he did play, he averaged just a touch under six points per game, but this is more of Arizona having an excess of scholarships for next year more than anything. He also seems to be choosing the idea of coming home over going to a lesser program where he would get more minutes.

When news started circulating that Sean Miller was at least throwing around the idea of offering Denny, our own Ryan Kelapire wrote this, which basically sums up the entire situation:

"As far as what Denny would offer the Wildcats, it wouldn't be a ton -- as in, he's not going to start or have a major role -- but he could prove to be a serviceable addition to the team's depth."

The move is a win-win on both sides. Denny gets to come home, and gets a final send-off in Tucson. Arizona gets a serviceable practice player, adding a 6-foot-6 player to go up against the loaded starting lineup every day.

Miller still needs to add front court depth. Arizona is in the mix for UNLV grad transfer Ben Carter, among others. There are plenty of guards now. The team even added walk-on Jake DesJardins on Monday as well, who is another shooting guard.

Either way, let's welcome Talbott home, and you know that Senior Day ceremony will be quite emotional for him and his family.
