Sonoran Hot Reads: Gabe York the Pac-12's most improved player?

Is he even the most improved player on his own team?

As the college basketball season winds down, awards are going to start being all the buzz (we'll have our Pac-12 awards as well). But one curious prediction comes from Seth Davis, who has Gabe York being the Pac-12's most improved player this season. Here's the reasoning:

"York's numbers have improved, albeit not as dramatically as some of the winners in other conferences. His scoring average increased from 9.2 to 14.3; his rebounding from 2.1 to 3.5; and his assists from 1.2 to 2.4. But what really impressed me about York was his expanded versatility and leadership ability for a program that has been devastated by NBA defections the last two seasons. Arizona is quite capable of being a second-weekend team in the NCAA tournament, which is a credit to York's guiding presence as well as his knack for hitting big shots."

But is York even the most improved Arizona player? I'd argue it's Kaleb Tarczewski, and I know I'm not alone on that. You could also make a bit of a case for Ryan Anderson, although he had a year off to improve from his Boston College days.

- Anderson is still probably in contention for Pac-12 Player of the Year, but it'll take a huge weekend for him to get it in all likelihood

- Our latest bracketology from Matt dropped York and Co. to a 6-seed

- Arizona is still fighting to hang on to a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament
