Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona baseball leaves lasting impression on opening night

The Wildcats are good at diamond sports so far this year

I've been talking about the culture change at Arizona since the second I set foot in Hi Corbett back in the fall, but that change was on full display at Rice on Friday night for national college baseball writer MJ Bauman, who was impressed by the Cats' speed, energy, and, of course, the amount of fans that were at the game.

- Those players also presented coach Johnson with the game ball after his first win at the school. It's going to be a fun year and beyond for this program

Softball

Danielle O'Toole shutout No. 4 LSU at the Mary Nutter Classic in Palm Springs. What a great day on the diamond for the Wildcats

Football

- Keep Sarah Spain in your thoughts as she tries to survive the Gronk Cruise

- Let's all get on that Samajie Grant fitness program:

Basketball

- Could Arizona be looking into another foreign big man for the 2016 class? They might have their eyes on Omer Yurtseven from Turkey

- Ryan wonders about the point guard situation, and who will work best moving forward

- There's gonna be some interesting new jerseys on the players the next time they take the floor

Other sports

- There was a lot of winning going on for Arizona teams on Friday. Women's tennis took down San Jose State, and men's tennis swept Nevada

- A small group of track athletes also had good showings up in Flagstaff

- The women's basketball team wasn't so fortunate, however, losing to Washington by 22

- Men's golf ended up finishing 8th out in Hawaii. Women's golf is set to begin a tournament in New Orleans

Gymnastics will take on ASU in Tempe on Monday

Tucson news

- Pima County deputies had to wrangle a pig, and then of course, they took some selfies to commemorate the moment

- It's time to get ready for the rodeo

This could be a future episode of Deadly Affairs
