Arizona football recruiting: Wildcats offer in-state receiver Bryce Gilbert

Arizona searching in-state to get some much-needed size at receiver

The Arizona Wildcats staff has the 2016 class in place and are on the move for the 2017 class. From here on out, we're going to start seeing more offers going out. From there, guys will start taking unofficial visits throughout the spring, preparing for the recruitment process ahead.

Arizona's latest offer goes to one of the top in-state prospects of 2017, 6'5", 210lb receiver out of Higley High School, (Gilbert, AZ) Bryce Gilbert.

"I didn't know what to think, just a blessing. I was in shock for a little and that was the happiest I have ever been," he said about receiving his offer from Arizona.

Coach Charlie Ragle was the one who had contacted Gilbert. "We had been in touch for a while and they would always say they're interested. Was just a matter of time."

Just about an hour after Arizona had offered Gilbert, Arizona State responded with an offer of their own.

"An amazing feeling, something I have been talking about since I was a little kid," he said about receiving both in-state offers in the same day.

Gilbert was ranked 61st in the state by Richard Obert back in March of 2015 and was ranked 10th among in-state receivers heading into his junior season. During his junior season, he was the focal point on offense, catching 65 passes for 1056 yards and 16 touchdowns, accounting for a third of the team's receiving yards and touchdowns. The Higley Knights ended with a 4-7 record.

Gilbert was on campus for the UCLA game, when College GameDay was in town. "I love all of U of A," he said about that unofficial visit.

But when it comes to what he's looking for in his future school, it's still too early for him to tell. "Honestly I haven't thought much about it hopefully I have more offers to come and then I'll find out what I want."
