Arizona Bowl Projections: Destination still unclear for Wildcats
So we're 13 weeks in, and no one has any idea as to where Arizona is going.
The Arizona Wildcats finally had their bye week, which gives them an extra week of rest for the bowl game, where ever the 'Cats might land. Despite reaching the final week of the season, no one seems to have any clue as to where Arizona is going.
Earlier last week, Greg Byrne said that the Arizona Bowl wasn't very likely, and that the Wildcats were headed somewhere in Texas. Oddly enough, Arizona has three bids here for the Arizona Bowl. The Cure Bowl also comes along, which is a new one.
Site | Bowl | Opponent | Location | Date |
SB Nation | Poinsettia | San Diego State Aztecs | San Diego, CA | December 23 |
CBS Sports | Cure | Connecticut Huskies | Orlando, FL | December 19 |
Bleacher Report | Arizona | New Mexico Lobos | Tucson, AZ | December 29 |
SportingNews | Poinsettia | New Mexico Lobos | San Diego, CA | December 23 |
Campus Insiders | New Mexico | New Mexico Lobos | Albuquerque, NM | December 19 |
McMurphy (ESPN) | Arizona | Colorado State Rams | Tucson, AZ | December 29 |
Schlabach (ESPN) | Arizona | Colorado State Rams | Tucson, AZ | December 29 |
Phil Steele, Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated have yet to release their bowl projections, but last week, those had Arizona going to some even more obscure bowls, including the Pinstripe Bowl and Music City Bowl.
I would think Greg Byrne's word is pretty solid as to which bowls he is talking to, and maybe a Texas bowl is still very likely. Chances are, none of these projections have any idea as to what Greg Byrne said earlier in the week, and which bowl committees he has been talking to.
One thing to also take note of is Arizona's time off. If the Wildcats land in a bowl after Christmas, that means there will have been 35+ days since Arizona's last game vs. Arizona State.
