Sonoran Hot Reads: Byron Murphy has Arizona in his top eight

A kid with Arizona ties

You may not be able to tell by his name, but four-star cornerback Byron Murphy is actually related to Arizona royalty. The prospect out of Saguaro (Scottsdale) is the nephew of Mike Bibby, and he put Arizona in his list of top eight schools on Monday night. Also, he spelled Washington horribly, which might mean it's really a top seven:

- Speaking of recruiting, Arizona has the most success of the teams that are "average" at recruiting

- Scooby Wright III was named the best player in college football by Fox Sports. Also, in Grantland's preview of every P5 conference, they named Wright as the best player in the Pac-12, but picked UCLA to win the South

- Speaking of UCLA, Ishmael Adams was arrested on suspicion of felony robbery

- Do you want to know weird things about Reggie GilbertArizonaWildcats.com has you covered

- How about this take on Anu Solomon being the breakout star in the nation and Arizona making it to the College Football Playoff? Now this is something I can get behind

- Stanford is in the best position at quarterback moving forward? Really? This has Arizona third, behind the Cardinal and USC

Basketball

- The Daily Wildcat has hot basketball recruiting takes

Other sports

- Golfer George Cunningham had a big summer. Also, Arizona extended its partnership with Sewailo Golf Club through 2020

- Volleyball moved up one spot in the AVCA poll to No. 16. The Pac-12 has eight (!) teams ranked in the top 25. Kalie Mau was also named the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Week

Tucson news

- The Sun Tran strike is still going on, with no end in sight. It has been different driving around Tucson without buses almost running into me every three minutes. It's also forced TMC to shuttle its own workers around
