Arizona football: Drew Riggleman named to Ray Guy Award watch list

The punter getting some national recognition

The fifth member of the Arizona Wildcats to be named to a preseason award watch list is punter Drew Riggleman. He was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list on Thursday.

Last season, Riggleman was fourth in the nation in punting average, booting the ball 46.1 yards per opportunity. Only JK Scott from Alabama, Austin Rehkow from Idaho, and Utah punter Tom Hackett were better. All four of those guys are back for this season, and are all on the award's watch list.

As a team, Arizona was 20th in net punting, moving the ball 39.79 yards on average over the course of Riggleman's 76 punts. If the Wildcats had some better punt coverage, Riggleman's numbers would have had the potential to be ridiculous last season.

Earlier this week, Anu Solomon, Scooby Wright III, Nick Wilson and William Parks all found themselves on watch lists. Scooby should make another on Friday as the Nagurski Trophy one is released. There's the potential to see an Arizona offensive tackle make the Outland watch list on Friday with Freddie Tagaloa finally getting in the mix this year.

Congrats to Riggleman, but no offense, hopefully you don't have to punt 76 times in 2015.
