NCAA Tournament 2015: Wisconsin vs. North Carolina recap
First-seeded Wisconsin knocks off fourth-seeded North Carolina in a hotly contested game
We may as well call Wisconsin the "comeback kings" because the Badgers have done it over and over again. After owning a slight edge the majority of the game, North Carolina surrendered a 9-0 run to Wisconsin. The Badgers found themselves up two with five minutes left and that spelled trouble for the Tar Heels.
Wisconsin moved to 33-0 this season when leading with five minutes. Badger coach Bo Ryan was 0-2 against North Carolina previous to this game, one of those losses coming in the Elite Eight of the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Marcus Paige hit a pair of clutch threes to keep UNC in position to win this game. However, the Badgers survived the scare as Ryan eventually got to celebrate his first win over the Tar Heels as well as another trip to the Elite Eight with a 79-72 win.
UNC coach Roy Williams instructed his team to speed up the pace right from the get-go. On the other hand, Ryan’s most efficient offense in the nation has proven better in the half court style. The Tar Heels had eight fast break points in the first half, which totaled the amount of fast break points Wisconsin gave up in its first two tournament games.
Badger forward Sam Dekker carried Wisconsin, scoring a career-high 23 points and collecting 10 rebounds. UNC did a fine job containing Frank Kaminsky early but Wisconsin turned on the ignition after half as Kaminsky came back strong to score four quick points. The Big Ten Player of the Year finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Wisconsin consistently gave UNC room to shoot on the perimeter and the Tar Heels capitalized shooting over 60 percent from deep. North Carolina’s top-notch athletes successfully got up and down the floor much of the game. Justin Jackson and Brice Johnson scored 15 apiece to lead UNC. However, the better and more experienced team pulled through and handed the Tar Heels a heartbreaking loss.
UNC went up seven points with 11 minutes left in the game as Kaminsky took a hand to the face after an Isaiah Hicks putback. However, Wisconsin cut the deficit back to one in a hurry. Both teams were aggressive on the offensive glass, combining for 21 offensive rebounds. Williams’ squad was hungry to make its first Elite Eight since 2012.
Unfortunately for North Carolina, Johnson picked up his fourth foul with nine minutes remaining. Wisconsin continuously fed Kaminsky in the post trying to put the Tar Heels in as much foul trouble as possible. The Badgers used size to counter North Carolina’s athleticism advantage.
The Tar Heels had both Paige and Kennedy Meeks back in good shape after both players struggled with health for a significant portion of the season. However, that was not enough to lift them over the top as they fell short 79-72. Staples Center was highly entertained, as usual, and Ryan’s team will stay put as it awaits Arizona for the second-consecutive year in the Elite Eight.

2015 NCAA Tournament: Xavier-Arizona Social Media Round-Up
That was a close one.
We didn't panic, then we panicked, then we won. Here's a round-up of what people are saying about the Arizona-Xavier game on Twitter tonight:

I do not recognize this Arizona defense. Xavier is running through the paint, shooting 64% on their two pointers.

Extra curricular activity is starting to occur. Both teams are frustrated #XAVvsAZ #MarchMadness

Arizona being out rebounded 27-24. Miller always cites rebounding as the difference. Need to switch that differential, and fast.
— Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) March 27, 2015
Luckily basketball is 40 minutes and not 31, which Twitter seems to think.

Haven't seen T.J. McConnell this shaky and unsure in a long, long time. Even his made buckets are tentative shots.

Stainbrook owning Kaleb Tarczewski like this is the best excuse you'll ever need for not going to the gym
— Ricky O'Donnell (@SBN_Ricky) March 27, 2015
This has been one of the worst games Arizona has played this year--& they still can win.
— Dave Pasch (@DavePasch) March 27, 2015
McConnell goes primal scream, which usually is a good sign
— Jason Scheer (@JasonScheer) March 27, 2015
Could this be the momentum shift Arizona needs? #XAVvsAZ #MarchMadness
— Roberto Payne (@HouseofPayne555) March 27, 2015
Arizona not panicking and taking control of this game is a direct reflection on Miller's steady leadership. Confident team.

3 minute stretch when Xavier switched out of the zone that had ruined Zona all game is a "not handing it to Marshawn" level head scratcher

The trusty tape measure. Trusty as in “often relied on,” not trusty as in: you can trust it for accurate measuring. Cause, while it’s definitely the go-to inch finder for the vast majority of us, it’s really a contractor’s tool, and better suited to lumberyard than a fine woodworking project. But, still, it’s the one you (read: I) reach for nearly every time, and there are loads of DIY projects and household tasks for which rough measurements will do just… Continue reading on ManMadeDIY.com

NCAA Tournament 2015: Xavier season recap
The Musketeers are beatable but also highly capable
This Xavier program is one that can never be taken lightly. Just ask former Xavier coach Sean Miller. Miller was head honcho for the Musketeers for five years.
Oddly enough, Thad Matta, whom Arizona just defeated, preceded him. Miller actually served as associate coach under Matta for some time. It is weird how things work like that, but I guess it is all part of the term, "March Madness."
Chris Mack is in his sixth season as head coach of the present-day Musketeers. He led his team to a record of 21-13 heading into tournament play.
While having 13 losses is not all that impressive, Xavier was able to clinch a six-seed largely because it went on to reach the Big East Conference Tournament Finals before falling to Villanova. The Musketeers were also ranked 27th in strength of schedule.
Xavier was one of six Big East teams to qualify for postseason play. The other five included Villanova, St. John’s, Georgetown, Butler and Providence. However, the Musketeers were the only team of that group to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Villanova was a one-seed that, perhaps, should have been Arizona instead. Nova did have top-tier talent, but its vulnerability showed from the beginning of the season as the Wildcats relied on a four-guard lineup.
Xavier was not able to expose Nova’s glaring weakness as it dropped both games by double-digits. Musketeer center Matt Stainbrook could not take advantage of a welcoming opportunity, which could spell trouble for him against a bigger and better Arizona team.
Xavier managed to beat Georgetown, arguably the next strongest team in the conference, in all three matchups between the two teams. In addition, the Musketeers went 2-1 against a tough Butler team, split the two-game series with Providence and fell to St. John’s in both games.
Xavier has a balanced scoring attack as six players average at least 8.5 points per game. Stainbrook’s 12.1 points per game makes him the Musketeers’ leading scorer. However, forward Trevon Bluiett and guard Myles Davis are not far behind. They average 11.3 and 10.7 points, respectively.
Senior guard Dee Davis acts as the floor general and also leads the team in playing time averaging 32.7 minutes per game. He averages 8.9 points but, more importantly, he dishes out an impressive six assists per game.
Coach Mack and the Musketeers have evidently been an up-and-down team this season. Fortunately for them, they just caught fire at the right time. T.J. McConnell and the Arizona Wildcats could very well put out that fire.

Arizona football recruiting: Running back Sean Riley commits to Wildcats
Arizona strikes gold with a versatile all-purpose back
After hosting a handful of recruits today, Arizona ended the day on a good note. 3-star running back Sean Riley announced his commitment to The University of Arizona via Twitter. This gives the 2016 recruiting class a total of four prospects, four of the most game-changing and class-defining recruits at that.
Thank you to everyone involved in my recruiting process,I've just COMMITTED to the University Of Arizona #BearDown http://ift.tt/1ELA4vN
— Sean Riley (@seankriley) March 24, 2015
Riley hails from Narbonne High School (Harbor City, CA), ranked as the No. 93 recruit in the state. At 5-9 165lbs, he held offers to San Diego State, Utah and Wyoming prior to his commitment. He was just offered his scholarship earlier in the day along with Keyshawn Johnson Jr.
Riley serves as the kick returner and premier back for Narbonne, posting impressive stats his junior year as a true all-purpose back. Averaging just under eight yards per carry, the shifty back amassed 1,250 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns. But his duties expand beyond the backfield, something Rich Rodriguez really looks for in his running backs. Riley was the recipient of 37 passes, good for 577 yards and four touchdowns.
Even more impressive than his offensive game is his returning abilities. On just 11 kick returns, he accumulated 444 yards, averaging just over 40 yards a return.
When asked why he committed to Arizona today after his unofficial, he claims that "Arizona felt like home", especially considering the proximity to his hometown. "I will fit perfect in the offense.. the coaches were really cool", he said. And with his versatility and speed, he is indeed a perfect fit for Rich Rodriguez. His highlights are below.

2015 March Madness: Sunday's West Region Round-Up
Wisconsin/Oregon was the only remaining match-up in the West Region, and Wisconsin pulled it out late.
Wisconsin and Oregon were the only teams out of the West still playing Sunday. Here's our brief run-down of that game:
(1) Wisconsin 72, (8) Oregon 65
Man, this game was close. Oregon and Wisconsin were tied at 52 with about six minutes left, but Wisconsin pulled away late to beat Oregon. Sam Dekker led Wisconsin with 17 points, though Wisconsin had four players in double figures. For Oregon, Joseph Young had a quintessential Joseph Young game, scoring 30 points on 25 shots. Oregon didn't have much offense outside of Young, with Jalil Abudl-Bassit as the only other player in double figures.
As an Arizona fan, this game should make you feel much more confident in a potential match-up with Wisconsin. The Badgers had trouble putting away an Oregon team that Arizona destroyed on three separate occasions. That bodes well for Arizona's chances if Arizona can get past Xavier. Wisconsin, meanwhile, has to get past North Carolina, who they face in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.
