'Mudbloods' Is the Quidditch Documentary You Never Knew You Wanted (VIDEO)
You might be scratching your head and thinking: Quidditch, the fictional game from “Harry Potter”? Yup, but it’s not fictional at all; people play it in real life! And the documentary “Mudbloods" follows the UCLA team as they head to the Fifth Annual Quidditch World Cup in New York City to pursue the big trophy.
A new trailer for “Mudbloods” addresses full-on the disbelief that follows the game. “You get two questions: How does the Snitch work, and how do you fly?” says one player.
The sport was invented by J.K. Rowling, but students at Middlebury College adapted into a real-life sport and it caught on at colleges across the country. (It was also featured in the Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson comedy “The Internship.”)
As one player passionately declares, “We want to compete and we want to show you that this is real.”
We believe.

This New 'Interstellar' Trailer Is an Emotional Punch in the Gut (VIDEO)
Are you already feeling a tad melancholy today? Maybe a little weepy? Well, hold on to your feels because this trailer for “Interstellar" packs a wallop. Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway as astronauts heading into the great unknown, in hopes of saving humanity from destroying itself. Earth is looking pretty frigging grim, so why not see if something out there in the great unknown has the answers we seek?
This trailer gives us a taste of the sorts of IMAX-sized questions Nolan et al will leave us to wrestle with in and out of the theater. Questions like, what happens when we give up on our greatest dreams of exploring space and time? What do you tell your children when you just don’t know what the future holds? How do you Skype in space?
Just in case you weren’t already having an existential crisis, Michael Caine provides some avuncular advice that includes a few choice bits from Dylan Thomas’s famous poem “Do not go gentle into that good night.” Between that, all the teary eyes, and the serious business score by Hans Zimmer, well, this will be one to see on the big screen come November.

Watch the 'Divergent' Deleted Scene Too Intense for Theaters (VIDEO)
In this clip, a terrible moaning that sounds like an animal in pain awakens Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Christina (Zoë Kravitz). They find Edward on the floor of their bunk with a butter knife stuck in his eye, and as all the other would-be Dauntless kids gather around to figure out how to help, Peter (Miles Teller) shows up looking creepy as heck. It just so happens that Edward, back when he had two working eyes, was giving Peter a real run for his money in the hand-to-hand combat portion of the Dauntless initiation. With just one peeper, Edward is out of the running — and the factor altogether.
Kinda blergh, but kinda cool if you’re into that sort of eyeball trauma.
“Divergent” will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and on demand on August 5. The extra fancy Blu-ray combo pack comes with deleted scenes like this one, audio commentaries, and more. Its sequel, “Insurgent,” has already started filming.

Roundup: 9 DIY Hammock Projects to Help You Enjoy Your Summer
Maybe I’m getting old. Maybe I’ve been overly influenced by those images of the dad in Calvin and Hobbes or Homer Simpson. Perhaps it’s those memorable times I’ve spent in Latin America, where they really know how to use ‘em. Or maybe - hopefully not, but maybe - it’s all those completely and horribly generic Father’s Day cards I have to pick through each June to find the right one for my dad.
But, I think a hammock is a damn fine way to spend a summer evening, and every man should have one. … read more

Quentin Tarantino May Finally Release 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair'
At a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Tarantino was asked about “The Whole Bloody Affair,” and offered some hope that audiences may still get a chance to see Uma Thurman’s The Bride wreak havoc on screen in one, long epic. Here’s what he had to say about the project, according to Slash Film:
What’s going on with that is originally back when Kill Bill was going to be one movie, I wrote an even longer anime sequence. So you see in the movie [O-Ren] kill her boss but then there was that long hair guy… The big sequence was her fighting that guy. I.G. [The Japanese Anime Studio] who did Ghost in the Shell said we can’t do that and finish it in time for your thing. And [plus] you can’t have a thirty-minute piece in your movie. I said okay. It was my favorite part but it was the part you could drop. So we dropped it and then later when I.G. heard we were talking about doing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair - they still had the script so without even being commissioned, they just did it and paid for it themselves. It’s really terrific. Anyway, The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the year is out, but within the next year with limited theatrical engagement as well.
So that’s not a definite yes, but certainly offers a glimmer of hope.
One Slash Film critic, who’s seen the finished product, promises that “it’s so much more than just watching the two movies back-to-back.” Cross your fingers, Tarantino fans, that 2015 brings you the “Bloody Affair” you’ve always wanted.

Chris Pratt Surprises Kids at 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Screening, Steals Our Hearts (VIDEO)
The screening, sponsored by Disney and the New York Daily News for children and their families affiliated with two NYC-based charities, had just wrapped up when an announcement was made that Star-Lord himself was in the building, and Pratt emerged to gasps, shrieks, and wild applause as the kids looked on in disbelief and utter joy. The actor made a short speech about how he could relate to a difficult childhood, and also engaged in a Q&A session about his movie training regimen and favorite “Guardians” scene.
“I think you’re all very awesome,” Pratt told the crowd. ” … Take it from a kid who grew up having no money, struggling hard to get by. Just know that if you stick to your path and you believe in yourself and be courageous enough to be yourself, you can grow up and you can be your own Star-Lord.”
“This was a once in a life chance for me,” one 11-year-old boy at the event told the Daily News. An 18-year-old aspiring actress at the screening told the News that meeting “a real (Hollywood) actor who’s so humble and kind … was really inspiring.”
Interactions like those are what give meaning to Pratt’s newfound global fame, the actor said, adding that they were the most rewarding part of the “Guardians” experience.
“That was really fun, this is what is all about,” Pratt told the News. “I get impatient sometimes being on a promotional tour all the time, but something like this I would sit here as long as it took to take a picture with every one of those guys. Tonight was really special to me.”

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Is So Over 'Dancing With the Stars'
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is hanging up his “Dancing With the Stars" shoes.
Chmerkovskiy declared on “The View” that he is “done with dancing.” At least, he’s done as a pro dancer on the show. “I feel like it’s time.”
This isn’t the first time Chmerkovskiy has stepped away from the show. He sat out for two seasons before returning to win the mirrorball trophy for the first time with partner Meryl Davis. But, he said, this time, he’s done for good.
“When I came back to the show, it was not the same … I was different, probably,” the 34-year-old admitted. “When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val [Chmerkovskiy, his brother] included … I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot.”
And he’s ready to take on new challenges, like starting a family. “I am really ready to have a family now. I need an outlet,” he told Social Life magazine earlier this year. “I have so much I want to give, and I need someone to give it to.”
(Maybe that someone is his rumored paramour, Jennifer Lopez?)
While Chmerkovskiy might be done as a pro ‘DWTS’ partner, he could be involved with the show in some other capacity.
“I’m absolutely hoping Maks comes back to the show,” executive producer Rob Wade told E! News. “I think there’s a number of different things we can talk to him about and the way he’d be involved in the show. Maks will always be part of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in some way.”

'The Judge' Selected For TIFF 2014 Opening Film
The Toronto International Film Festival’s opening movie may not be “Iron Man 4”, but it will feature the same leading man come early September.
David Dobkin’s “The Judge” will open TIFF 2014, according to a release sent out by festival organizers on Friday. “The Judge” stars Robert Downey Jr. as Hank Palmer, a hot-shot lawyer forced to return to his childhood home after his father is accused of murder.
Robert Duvall plays Palmer’s father, a judge who must put his resentment against his son aside if he ever wants to clear his name. Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard and Billy Bob Thornton also star.
“The stars aligned and we are thrilled to announce that we will kick off the Festival with The Judge,” said Piers Handling, Director and CEO, TIFF. “David Dobkin has delivered a moving, textured story about family, duty and the way we remember our past. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to this year’s event.”
“The Judge” marks 15 years since Dobkin’s first film.
“I brought my first film, “Clay Pigeons”, to Toronto, so 15 years later to actually be on opening night with The Judge is incredibly special and thrilling,” said Dobkin. “The Festival audiences are terrific, and I know I speak for everyone involved in the film when I say we are so pleased to be unveiling it there.”
TIFF is set to kick off on Sept. 4 and runs till Sept. 11.

Here's What You Need to Know About 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' Trailer
Few things were as “throw your cup on the floor” frustrating as the ending of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Not in a bad way, mind you, but in a “this cliffhanger is so tantalizing that it may do me actual physical harm” way. So it’s with a fair amount of anticipation that we greet anything related to follow-up, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1,” the first of the two-part conclusion to the epic, financially unstoppable “Hunger Games” franchise.
When last we left Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), she had just competed in a “Survivor: All Stars”-style version of the Hunger Games, and the resistance had started in earnest (and already claimed some casualties), with factions being aligned on both sides of the moral (and governmental divide). At the end of the movie, she was resolute and incredibly ticked off, a fighter who was shoved, head first, into the position of a revolutionary. As the first teaser for the new sequel suggests, it’s going to be all-out war.
The trailer starts with a shot of a futuristic spaceship, moving away from the glitz and glamour of the capitol and out towards the outer districts, where agrarian societies and foundational industrial buildings sit in the same dusty dirt. We see Philip Seymour Hoffman, thought to be a corrupt game designer but in fact one of the architects of the revolution, chatting with a new character played by Julianne Moore, about Katniss’ credentials as a freedom fighter. It’s powerful stuff, made even more powerful due to Hoffman’s sudden, shocking death, and the images that follow carry with it their own stark importance. We’re moving away from the Capitol, with its rococo set design and outrageous costumes, and into the commonwealth, where things are drab and depressing (but still, thanks to director Francis Lawrence, still totally ravishing).
Towards the end of the trailer, we see a crop-circle-style mocking jay logo in a field, and that evil president played by Donald Sutherland making it a degree that anyone associated with said symbol will be shot in the head by a crazy futuristic gun. We don’t even see Katniss for much of the trailer, but at the end, like Caesar before her on the planet of the apes, she begrudgingly accepts her position as the leader of the cause. And yes, she plans on kicking ass.
